Through the Years

"Cultura Viva was founded in 2019, growing out of our first community program, Noche de Cine Gratis, which began in 2016 and continues to inspire our work today."

Through years of listening to Dominicans across many communities, we identified a national challenge.

What We Saw
in the Communities

  • Students finishing training but unable to find formal jobs.

    (They complete school or courses, but cannot access structured opportunities.)

  • Young adults with skills but no access to opportunities.

    (Everything depends on personal contacts or luck.)

  • Employers needing workers but unable to find them.

    (Hiring can be slow, informal, and inconsistent.)

  • Most hiring done informally through WhatsApp and word of mouth.

    (There is no central platform or official channel.)

Why the Job Board
Initiative Began

To address these challenges, Cultura Viva partnered with Active Labor Solutions (ALS) to create a modern national system that connects:

  • People
  • Employers
  • Training and skills
  • Real job opportunities

Cultura Viva leads the national outreach and social mission, while ALS provides the platform that brings everything together.

What This Means for
the Dominican Republic

For the first time, education, preparation, and employment are connected in one simple, accessible national system open to every community. Cultura Viva and ALS are working together to make opportunities easier to find, and easier to reach, for everyone.
